Mis-en-scene

The Mis-en-scene refers to everything the audience can see, hence everything that is placed in front of the camera. We must regard things such as set/location,props,actors,costume and lighting.Other things we have to consider is the positioning of actors and the composition of items/people in the scene.

Props:

  • Knife
  • Bed
  • Pillows
  • Door/Door Handle
  • kitchen work surface
  • Mirror
  • Stairs etc

Location and costume:

We used Abbie's house as our main location as it was with in easy access to the forest. We filmed some scenes in Abbie's bedroom, some in the kitchen,on the stairs and by the back door this gave us a broad range of shots to work from.We then proceeded to go to the forest and film some of our shots there. This gave us a range of locations use, making the trailer more versatile.Abbie wore normal items of clothing to make the trailer realistic and authentic, she did however wear quite dark clothes just to add to the ideology of the trailer and represent the darkness of it.

Lighting:

The lighting was generally natural lighting as we did the filming in day time we cold take advantage of this.when we was outside the lighting played in our favour and didn't ruin or disrupt any shots. When inside we did manage to obtain some darker and eerie shots just by simply turning lights off or drawing curtains!

Actors:

Abbie was our main actress in the whole of the trailer, there wasn't really anyone else present except in one part where I appear but this may be cut in the editing process.By having the trailer just all of Abbie it adds to the isolation we wanted to portray and also plays along with the ambiguous message of the plot.
