After getting suggestions from our target audience and them saying that we should include other information within the trailer we decided that we would take their advice. We looked at a few more teaser trailers on the internet and we agreed that there should be some other informative text in the trailer as a teaser trailer is all about advertising the film and enticing the viewer without too much of the film itself being shown. After researching into this matter even more, we came to find that one of the main aims of teaser trailers is to promote the actors and institutions and so we felt we would incorporate this in our trailer.
We looked at the type of texts that are written in real teaser trailers and we came up with 'From the Director of 'Silent Scream' and 'Starring Oscar Winning Abbie Smith'. Of course I haven't really won an Oscar (unfortunately) and we haven't created a film called Silent Scream but from researching other teaser trailers these are the kind of things that are written so that the audience wants to see the film because there is a good actor or actress in it, or the director's previous film was good.
We were worried that by adding this text into our trailer it would be confusing to recognise the narrative text. To avoid this problem we were careful about where we put this text, we didn't put it over a black background, instead it overlaps the scene and we used a different font so it is clearly differentiated from the narrative text. We agree that this makes our trailer look more like a real media product. We are all happy with the changes that we have made.
