Through my research I have discovered that there is a slight gap in the market for a film magazine specifically targeted at a youngish audience (15-25). As our film is targeted at 15-25 years olds we need to use codes and conventions that will appeal to them. Out initial idea for a film magazine to feature our film is to create a magazine that is targeted directly at this audience so that our film can be marketed correctly and broadcasted to the right target audience.
From a questionnaire I have found out that the most popular genre of magazine for our age group is celebrity gossip. To relate this to a film magazine we could have features like 'Behind the scenes gossip', 'Secrets of the stars'. Fashion is also a popular genre so we could include Movie stars wardrobe secrets.' With the boys technology and gaming magazines are quite popular so we could include features about how they made the films and what equipment they used. Also, when a film is released there is sometimes a video game that is released with it, the front cover of the magazine could advertise a review of a films video game. This would make our film magazine appealing to both males and females which would be an advantage for us because our film is aimed at both males and females so we want both sexes to be able to be attracted towards it.
Also, another thing that I think puts off 15-25 year olds buying film magazines is that they look quite professional and do not have a 'fun feel' to them. I think if we made the representation of our film magazine more informal, it would be more attractive to our target audience.
