Evaluating Poster Research

After Researching the film posters and doing textual analysis for The Ring,Halloween and 28 days later i have now summarised my findings in this post.This will help me to combine my findings with my group and help us create a successful poster which follows the codes and conventions of the genre.

Codes and Conventions:

• Dark colour scheme
• Simplistic
• Main central image
• Actors/Actresses names
• Institution Information
• Bold title
• Commonly red and black colour scheme
• Eye catching to stand out on billboards etc
• Tagline eg "sometimes they don't come back alone"
• Critics Quotes eg "old school American Horror"
• Release date/coming soon

When creating our poster we need to consider different fonts and styles of the title and relate it in with our trailer to make it consistent.
